Mastering the Art of Partnering with Volunteers
Volunteers are essential to meeting our organizational mission, there’s no question about it. But working with volunteers isn’t just for volunteer managers; everyone in an organization needs to work well with volunteers in order to succeed. And sometimes that’s easier said than done, particularly in an environment as emotionally charged as animal protection. This workshop will provide insights into how to develop a program in such a way that the major drama can be avoided, but also provide specific skills for staff at every level around understanding volunteer motivation, giving feedback, asking for help, and creating an environment of cooperation and teamwork.
Building resilience: Strategies for managing our stress and ourselves in our animal protection work
Animal protection is hard, and we’re the people who sign up for it. Weird, right? This workshop will provide attendees with an understanding of the causes and symptoms of compassion fatigue, as well as the skills to remain resilient in the face of the challenges in our work. Attendees will leave with a better sense of what they can do as individuals as well as members of their team to build and promote a healthy culture of self-care, skillful communication and personal responsibility.
